Uncluttering My Life

Sometimes I get so excited to enact change that I get overwhelmed and become unable to get anything done!  If you are organizationally challenged you might be able to relate to this.

In order to lessen the feelings of being overwhelmed I have started to break tasks into small pieces.

For instance, if I need to clean the bathrooms and the kitchen I focus on one room at a time.  I know this sounds basic but I get easily distracted and will bounce from one room to the next.  This only gets everything partially cleaned.

Another tip I have found helpful is to pick up RIGHT AWAY.  This means if I set something down and it does not belong where I set it, I will put it away when I leave the room.  This is the same concept as picking up trash when you encounter it the first time instead of walking by the trash several times and then deciding to do something with it.

Are you organizationally challenged?  How are you working to overcome this challenge?  What are your tips?

Sounds like me too. I tend to multitask and get distracted one way or another. Plus it doesn’t help that I am a perfectionist and tend to procrastinate in doing something unless I know where everything is going. So I never get stuff done.

You might benefit from reading zenhabits.net. There are lots of tips on uncluttering your life. 🙂

PS. I saw your blogpost on the wordpress.com’s “latest posts” in the Life category (in case your’re wondering).
